The Advanced Language Institute (ALI), funded by the Loann Crane Endowment will award research grants for graduate students in Spring and Summer 2026:
- Spring 2026: 5 grants for up to $1000 each in languages, literatures and cultures in a language other than the applicant’s native language (not English) outside of the US.
- Summer 2026: 10 grants for up to $1000 each in languages, literatures and cultures in a language other than the applicant’s native language (not English) outside of the US.
Application deadline for both Spring and Summer 2026 applications is October 15, 2025. Decisions will be made and funds will be awarded by November 30, 2025.
Note: Applicants need to have completed 3000-level or above of the language at the time of applying for this grant.

Note: Applicants may apply for multiple different grants (through the CLLC website) for the same research project/program/conference. However, please note that if an applicant receives a grant (with the earlier deadline), the second award will be given to the same applicant only if funds are available after the award decisions have been made, and provided the applicant has not exceeded their requested budget with all funding sources.
