The Advanced Language Institute will award a number of scholarships to eligible undergraduate students.

Applications are open on Scholarship Universe until October 14, 2026

Requirements 

• Statement of Intent: a 350-word statement describing how participating in the Study Abroad or Internship/Service-Learning program contributes to your academic and future career goals.
• OSU Transcript: A transcript is required. An advising report will also be accepted.
• 2 Letters of Recommendation: Please ask your referral to email the recommendation letter to both yourself for the application, and CLLCscholarships@osu.edu for verification, by the deadline.​ Use this fillable guide to help you ask for a letter of recommendation.
• Intermediate/Advanced Level Requirement: Applicants must have completed coursework at the 3000-level or above in the target language by the time they apply for this grant.

Non-OSU Affiliated Programs

Students participating in an internship program not affiliated with OSU must:

• Enroll in supplemental insurance, and
• Obtain travel approval through OSU’s Office of International Affairs (OIA) Risk Management.

Additionally, the program must be pre-approved:

• By the student’s academic department if earning college credit, or
• By the Center for Languages, Literatures and Cultures if not earning college credit.

All study abroad or internship experiences must be conducted in the target language.

Apply for CLLC Scholarships Through Scholarship Universe
CLLC scholarships are administered through Ohio State's Scholarship Universe platform. To apply, log in to Scholarship Universe using your Ohio State username (lastname.#) and password. After completing your profile, you'll be matched with scholarships for which you may be eligible. You can also search for specific CLLC scholarship names using the search bar within Scholarship Universe. Be sure to complete all required application steps before the scholarship deadline.
