Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

World Language Appathon Showcase

Students at the World Language Appathon
This year’s pilot Appathon, hosted by the CLLC and OHI/O, wrapped up with ten interdisciplinary teams presenting a remarkable range of VR language-learning applications after a month of development. Participating teams representing the languages and CSE departments combined creativity, design, and linguistic expertise to build immersive experiences that teach languages from Mandarin to Spanish to Arabic and beyond.

Projects included everything from invasive species search-and-identify adventures, to interactive cooking and food-stand simulations, to a delightfully chaotic Krampus-themed “clean your room” challenge. Every team brought something unique to the final showcase, highlighting the wide-ranging imagination, dedication, and flexibility of the Buckeyes who took part.
