ALI Target Language Internships/Service-Learning Grants

The Advanced Language Institute will award a number of scholarships to select undergraduate students participating in an Internship or Service-Learning experience in country or abroad in the target language at intermediate or advanced levels. Selected students will be awarded up to $2,000. ​

• Spring 2024: 1 grant for up to $2000 will be awarded (Applications open on September 15th 2023; Application deadline is October 15th, 2024; Decisions will be made and funds will be awarded by November 5th, 2023)​

• Summer 2024: 1 grant for up to $2000 will be awarded (Applications open on January 22nd 2024; Application deadline is February 20th, 2024; Decisions will be made and funds will be awarded by March 30th, 2024)​

• Fall 2024: 1 grant for up to $2000 will be awarded (Applications open on January 22nd 2024; Application deadline is February 20th, 2024; Decisions will be made and funds will be awarded by March 30th, 2024)​

Documentation required:

• 350-word statement describing how participating in the internship/service learning program contributes to your academic and future career goals.
• OSU transcript (Advising Report accepted)
• Two letters of recommendation

If a student pursues an internship program NOT affiliated with OSU, they are still required to enroll in supplemental insurance and have their travel approved by risk management through OIA. In addition, their internship program has to be pre-approved by their department (if they expect to earn college credit) or from the CLLC if they are not earning college credit. The internships MUST be in the target language.​

Note: Applicants need to have completed 1103 or equivalent level of the language at the time of applying for the grant.
