ALI Target Language Internships/Service Learning Scholarships


The Center for Languages Literatures and Cultures has been working with the Office of International Affairs to increase the number of Internships/Service-Learning opportunities in the target language (does not include English or the student's native language) for intermediate/advanced students offered through OSU. 

Undergraduate Internship or Service-Learning Funding

The Advanced Language Institute will award a number of scholarships to select undergraduate students participating in an Internship or Service-Learning experience in country or abroad in the target language at intermediate or advanced levels. Selected students will be awarded up to $2,000 for paid experiences and up to $5,000 for unpaid experiences. Deadline to apply for summer funding: March 10

AIFS Abroad in Rome: Semester Study + Intern

Sant'Anna Institute Internship Program in Sorrento, Italy (Internship in Italian)

 University of Minnesota: MSID Ecuador

University of Minnesota: MSID Senegal

IFSA - Summer in Shanghai (Internship in Chinese)

IFSA - IFSA Study in Shanghai: Social Science (Internship in Chinese)

ISA Advanced Language Internship Program in Valencia, Spain (non-credit bearing)

ISA Advanced Language Internship Program in Madrid, Spain (non-credit bearing)

ISA Advanced Language Internship Program in Barcelona, Spain (non-credit bearing)

AIFS Advanced Language Internship Program in Paris, France (non-credit bearing)

AIFS Advanced Language Internship Program in Berlin, Germany (non-credit bearing)


If a student pursues an internship program NOT affiliated with OSU, they are still required to enroll in supplemental insurance and have their travel approved by risk management through OIA. In addition, their internship program has to be pre-approved by their department (if they expect to earn college credit) or from the CLLC if they are not earning college credit. The internships MUST be in the target language.
