Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

World Language Appathon: Launch Event

Rebecca Bias and students engage in a VR activity
October 29, 2025
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Emerging Technology Studio (Hopkins Hall Annex, Room 180)

Would you like to create an Educational VR application using your world language skills with the help of a team of computer science students at OSU?

The CLLC and Computer Science and Engineering are partnering to give undergraduate language majors and minors the opportunity to do this in the Fall of 2025!

The World Language Appathon is open to all language majors and minors to:

  • Design an interactive language learning app using VR technology with Meta Quest headsets, provided for you by the CLLC!
  • Use your imagination to “gamify” an exciting app with a purposeful learning goal in mind.

Have a friend in CompSci who would like to work with you? Let us know! If not, we'll pair you with someone.

There will be prizes for all participants!

Interested?

To express your interest, please register by October 22, 2025. Join us for our launch event at the Emerging Technology Studio on Wednesday, October 29.

App reveal and presentations will be viewed and judged at the CLLC Appathon on Friday, November 21, 2025.
