Would you like to create a foreign-language film using your world language skills, with guidance from a Moving Image professor?
The Center for Languages, Literatures and Cultures and Scott Spears are partnering to give undergraduate language majors and minors the opportunity to create their own foreign-language film during Fall 2026 at the very first ever World Language Filmathon.

Important dates:
- Application Deadline: Monday, October 12 , 2026
- Launch Event: Monday, October 19 , 2026, 5-8pm, Hagerty 160
- Shoot Training: October 26, 5-6pm
- Check-in: October 29, Multiple times available
- Post-production/editing training: November 9, 5-6:30pm
- Check-in: November 12, Multiple times available
- Final Showcase: Thursday 4-7pm, November 19, 2026, Barnett Collaboratory
Win Prizes:
Teams who complete the program will have the opportunity to compete for exciting film equipment prize bundles. The first-place team will receive film tools valued at approximately $500 per participant, second place approximately $300 per participant, third place approximately $250 per participant, and all remaining teams that successfully complete the competition will receive a tripod valued at approximately $100 per participant.
