The Center for Languages Literatures and Cultures would like to express its deepest sympathies to the family of Loann Crane, who was a major contributor to world languages at Ohio State over many decades. Loann envisioned an international café in Hagerty Hall, which became a reality in 2005. The Crane Café welcomes hundreds of students each day with international programming in over twelve languages. The Crane Foundation also funds the CLLC Advanced Language Institute (ALI) which has supported programming such as The Translation and Interpreting Program and accompanying certificate, core translation and interpreting courses and an ongoing lecture series. The ALI will also provide advanced language courses targeted to specific discipline areas to prepare students for dynamic and impactful global careers. We remain ever grateful to Loann Crane and the gifts she has given and will continue to give to our students.
