Undergraduate Study Abroad Funding

The Advanced Language Institute, funded by the Loann Crane endowment, will provide five $1250 scholarships for Study Abroad at the intermediate or above level during Spring semester, and five $1250 scholarships for summer study abroad at the same level.

Undergraduate Internship or Service Learning Funding

The Advanced Language Institute will award a number of scholarships to select undergraduate students participating in an Internship or Service Learning experience in country or abroad in the target language at intermediate or advanced levels. Selected students will be awarded up to $2,000 for paid experiences and up to $5,000 for unpaid experiences.

IFSA - Summer in Shanghai (Internship in Chinese)

IFSA - IFSA Study in Shanghai: Social Science (Internship in Chinese)

ISA Advanced Language Internship Program in Valencia, Spain (non-credit bearing)

ISA Advanced Language Internship Program in Madrid, Spain (non-credit bearing)

ISA Advanced Language Internship Program in Barcelona, Spain (non-credit bearing)

AIFS Advanced Language Internship Program in Paris, France (non-credit bearing)

AIFS Advanced Language Internship Program in Berlin, Germany (non-credit bearing)

 

If a student pursues an internship program NOT affiliated with OSU, they are still required to enroll in supplemental insurance and have their travel approved by risk management through OIA. In addition, their internship program has to be pre-approved by their department (if they expect to earn college credit) or from the CLLC if they are not earning college credit. The internships MUST be in the target language.

Graduate Student Funding

The Advanced Language Institute (ALI), funded by the Loann Crane Endowment, will award annually four grants up to $4000 for

1) research in languages, literatures and cultures in a language other than the applicants’ native language outside of the US;

2) unpaid internships in a language other than the applicants’ native language in or outside of the US. $2000 will be awarded for paid internships.

Preference will be given to internships.
