Tavo Vaikai
Vilnius, Lithuania
Every 6 July, Lithuanians celebrate the anniversary of the coronation of King Mindaugas, also known as Statehood Day, by singing the national anthem at the same time, no matter where they may be in the world. This past summer, I had the opportunity to attend in-person celebrations of this holiday along the bank of the Neris River in Vilnius, the capital. This young girl's father was holding her up so she could better see the stage where the president of Lithuania gave a speech just before the singing of the anthem. The title of this photo translates to "Your Children" and is taken from a line in Lithuania's national anthem: "May your children always follow / Only roads of virtue."

Wabi-Sabi in Red
Hiroshima, Japan
Stepping into the deep shadows of Miyajima's Daisho-in Temple, the hillside covered with stone Jizo statues feels like an earth art exhibition that transcends time. The aesthetic of Wabi-sabi, deeply rooted in Japanese culture, is silently articulated here—moss recklessly climbs the cold stone, and the weathering of time peels away the human craftsmanship, gently pulling these deities back into nature's embrace.
