NSEP Boren Scholarships and Fellowships
The NSEP Boren Scholarship and Fellowship season begins September 1, 2024, funding study abroad for U.S. undergraduate students in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and providing graduate students with the opportunity to add an important international and language component to their graduate studies.
Boren Awards provide a unique funding opportunity for U.S. students to study world regions critical to U.S. interests (including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East). Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded.
2025 NATIONAL DEADLINES: BOREN FELLOWSHIPS: JANUARY 22, 2025 | BOREN SCHOLARSHIPS: JANUARY 29, 2025
THE OSU DEADLINE for undergraduates is January 17, 2025 (for assistance with your statements).
Maximum awards are determined by duration abroad:
- Up to $25,000 for 25–52 weeks (preferred)
- Up to $12,500 for 12–24 weeks
- Up to $8,000 for 8–11 weeks (STEM majors only)
